Every month I like to write about the views from my office. Because I have an online career from home, my office is anywhere I want it to be. I can work from home or anywhere in the world I choose. So, to show that it’s not always hard work, and for a bit of fun, I like to share with my readers the views that I have from my ‘office’. I hope you enjoy and feel inspired!
Getting the most out of Autumn, while it’s still here
With the weather cooling down, working outside hasn’t been as appealing as it usually is. For anyone who visits here often, you’ll know that I take my laptop pretty much wherever I go and find a place outside where the sun in shining. And with Winter starting at the end of this week (what?!) I don’t think I’ll be venturing out all that much for a while.
That said, we managed to get a few lovely days as we were approaching the end of Autumn, so we really made the most of those days. I didn’t work as much as I have over the last few months, because my body told me that I needed to slow down a bit. So, I listened. Our health is so important, and sometimes it isn’t until we’re unwell that we realise that. So, instead of working at every opportunity, I took some time to pause. I still got lots done, but not at the pace I usually work. And I have to say I liked it!
A lovely part of the world that we venture to when we can is Clifton Springs, on the Bellarine Peninsula. We have family there, so we make it a priority to visit. We’ll often go for the day, and spend time on the water there.
The boys love to play near the water. There’s always loads for them to see and do, like finding crabs and jellyfish, and skimming rocks across the top of the water. Finding the best flat skimming rocks becomes like a competition. Watching them reminded me of my own childhood, when playing at the beach was the most fun you could have. Building sandcastles and finding shells was the best. And finding a sea creature, well that was just awesome. We’re always still a bit cautious though, because we don’t want to stick our hands into little rock pools or where we can’t see exactly what’s in there.
Whilst we’re walking on the beach, or I’m watching as the boys are playing near the water, it also gives me great thinking time. I feel like I never have enough time to relax and think. I think about my websites, new ideas, things I need to learn, new topics to write about, and ideas to research. I didn’t take my laptop with me, it wasn’t that kind of day. By the evening I had come home full of new ideas and I jotted them down in my notebook ready for implementation over the next few days.
My local cafe
We are lucky enough to live within walking distance of a multitude of great cafes, restaurants and bars. And during the day when they’re fairly quiet, they don’t mind people working away on their laptops while having a latte and a bite to eat. Working at our local cafes does break up the time for me. A change of scenery always does me good, and when the coffee is great, well that’s even better.
Another one of our favourite places in the world is Healesville. It’s not far out of Melbourne, but far enough that we know we’re out of the rat race. We can escape for the day, get close to nature, and have some fun. Healesville did not disappoint, and we were all a bit sad when the day came to an end.
Why work anywhere else, other than where you choose?
You too can enjoy a home office from wherever you want, whenever you want. It might be from the comfort of your own bedroom, lounge room or study. It might be outside on your balcony or in your backyard. It might be at your favourite cafe, or your local library, or your local park. It might even be in another country, on the beach, or on a cruise ship. The fact is, it’s up to you.
This is the best way I have found to make money online. It is suitable for anyone at any level of skill.
