Is Opinion World a Scam or Legit?

In this Opinion World review we’ll find out if Opinion World is worth your time and effort. We will answer the question ‘is Opinion World a scam or legit?

Opinion World is a survey platform. Companies like to hear your opinions so they can make educated decisions about their products and services. Your opinions influence things like product design, cost, packaging and advertising. They pay you for your efforts because your opinions help them sell products.

Doing surveys from home is a legitimate way to earn income. However, you need to realise that you will have to complete A LOT of surveys in order to make a reasonable income. Surveys work on volume.

Let’s take a look at Opinion World.

Some basic information about Opinion World:

My Opinion World review will take you through the following sections:

  • What is Opinion World and how does Opinion World work?
  • How do you get paid with Opinion World?
  • Is Opinion World legit?
  • My recommended way of making money online

What is Opinion World and how does Opinion World Work?

Signing up is easy. Just a few simple questions as you would expect.

You will be notified that they are becoming Opinion Outpost, and you will receive an email form Opinion Outpost to confirm your registration.

You then fill in a few questions about yourself to get started. Your area code, family status, education, employment status, salary bracket. You then spend about 20 minutes providing very detailed information about yourself and your habits. This information will help to determine which surveys you are matched for.

Then before you can complete a survey you are given another survey to do to. Honestly this is just starting to annoy me now….

According to their FAQs, “Depending on your profile, we may ask you to complete surveys more or less often than once per month. For this reason, we ask you to keep your profile as up to date as possible.”

Surveys take between 10 and 40 minutes each. The longer the survey, the more points you get. You can expect to receive paid surveys in your inbox anywhere from once a week to once a month, with the number of surveys you receive being dependent on your demographic profile.

Completing the My Profile section in your account with OpinionWorld will help you receive more surveys that are relevant to you. These profile questions are short surveys and will help you get selected first for surveys that you are best matched for.

How Do You Get Paid With Opinion World?

You can start to claim your rewards when you reach 250 points (which is equivalent to about $5) if you want an Amazon gift card, or 500 points ($10) if you want it transferred to you via PayPal or for an iTunes gift card.

Is Opinion World A Scam or Legit? It’s LEGIT! But…

Opinion World is absolutely legitimate. However, there are some negative reviews online which should make you wary. That said, there were also good reviews, take a look:

The most frequent comment I saw in the ‘bad’ category was that accounts were closed with no explanation when users tried to cash out. Here is an example:

Opinion World Review

You will provide a LOT of upfront information to ‘match’ you with surveys, and they say you may get a survey each month. You will spend at least half an hour setting it all up and you may not hear from them to participate in something for several weeks.

I cannot imagine any person earning anything much other than a small amount cash over the course of a year, although there will be access to several surveys. It will take you loads of time.

The verdict: OPINION WORLD / OPINION OUTPOST IS A MAYBE. If you’ve got loads of time and nothing else to do it will earn you some spare money. Since signing up to Opinion World I have actually received several surveys. It feels like they email me daily, and sometimes twice daily, with a new survey to take.

  1. I have learned my lesson with surveys in the past and it takes up so much time and in the end, you hardly get anything to show for it.

I prefer to build my own online business and in this way, I get to make a passive income without having to be at my computer 24/7. I am sure more and more people are feeling this way, as we get tired of getting booted out of surveys all the time.

  2. Great information you have shared here about opinion world. To me and going by the information you have provided here on it, i will say that opinion world is not worth my time. Though it is seeming like a legit platform but then, I don’t want to waste my time in vain and later end up losing all the money I worked for. Hence, to be on the safe side, I would rather prefer not to be a part to this platform.

    • Hi Rodarrick,

I agree that whilst it’s legit, you won’t make a lot of money using this platform. I think it’s good for people who want to test whether they can actually make money online – it’s an OK starting point, and some do make some extra pocket money with survey platforms. I prefer affiliate marketing which is a longer term strategy, and I believe a more rewarding one.

      Wishing you all the best.

  3. Thank you for this review about opinion world and i’m delighted that i have come across this before making the decision to join them. That user review about them is really disheartening and would be among the reasons why i would not be willing to try this out. Also, I don’t like taking my chances when the possibilities is not likely. Thanks

    • Hi Shelley,

Many of the survey sites tend to have mixed reviews. The general consensus is that it takes a LOT of surveys to make any real money, and that users often don’t qualify based on their demographic profile.

In my view, affiliate marketing is definitely a better way to go when it comes to making money online.

      Wishing you all the best.

  4. I got a promotional email about Opinion World and I always prefer to do my homework before making my decision and your review is a time saver for me. Thanks a lot!

I totally agree with you when you said we need to take a lot of surveys to make some reasonable amount. I worked with some survey sites and based on my experience, it’s not worth the time we invest in. Also, after going through many questions we will get a message “Sorry you are not qualified try another survey”.

The surveys are based on geographical location, so it’s really hard to get more number of surveys. After reading your review, Opinion World is a NO-NO for me.

    • Hi Paul,

I hope you’re doing well, friend. It’s true that with these platforms, there will be many instances where people don’t qualify for the surveys because of their demographic profile. It’s certainly a downside. I do feel that there are better ways to make money online, with affiliate marketing being one of the best.

      All the best Paul.
