With new online businesses and apps popping up every day, it’s no surprise that there are many companies out there dedicated to getting your feedback on their websites and apps. You can take advantage of this and make money testing websites.
Anyone with an online business wants to be confident that they’re doing the right thing and their site provides a great user experience. What better way to find out than to get user feedback? Making money testing websites is an awesome way to make some extra money.
UserTesting pays you to test websites.
You’ll be paid to visit websites or apps, complete a set of tasks, and speak your thoughts aloud.
Testing websites from home is a legitimate way to earn income. Whilst you won’t make a fortune, you can certainly make some extra money.

What is UserTesting.com about, and how does UserTesting work?
From a customer perspective, here’s how UserTesting works:
From a tester perspective, you’ll be reviewing websites and apps, and providing your opinion about various aspects of the websites and apps by responding to structured questions.
Before you get started, you’ll need to do a sample test. The sample test is short and requires you to fill in some basic demographic information. Once approved, you’ll start to receive emails notifying you about testing opportunities. UserTesting says that new tests are posted daily. The number of opportunities you will receive will depend on your demographics and your quality rating.

How do you get paid with UserTesting?
Testers get paid $10 for each completed test. A test is a 20-minute recording and answers to four follow-up written questions.
Up to $60 is paid for a live conversation with a customer. A live conversation requires you to get on a video conference call with a customer at a scheduled date and time.
Payments are made daily for tests completed seven days earlier, and payments are made via PayPal only.
Is UserTesting legit?
UserTesting is absolutely legit. They have three offices in the United States and they employ people in Europe. They appear to have a large staff and are actively recruiting a number of positions globally at the time of review.
Reviews online tend to be mixed, however. There are people who’ve had great experiences, and others who have not. A summary of the reviews on sitejabber is as follows:
As you can see, there are quite a few reviews that are negative. Here’s a snapshot of the mix of reviews:
The reviews are a mixed bag. Some people make money with UserTesting, and whilst they acknowledge that you won’t get rich from it, it does work. You get paid when you complete a test. Others describe it as a waste of time. I think when it comes to making this money testing websites, you need to go into it knowing that:
- You will not strike it rich
- You will need to qualify for the work based on your demographics
- The work may be quite ad hoc
